​Portraits in Captivity

​This series was born during an impromptu visit to a small zoo I visited as a child. Off season I found myself able to get closer and to spend more time waiting.  I found image after image where the subject was connecting directly with me, so, I focused on the idea of creating portraits as I would with humans in a studio, attempting to capture a little of the subject's soul and style. Since then  I seek out other places where creatures are captive...zoos, sanctuaries, 4H events. These are the ongoing results.
